Lethe

Sometimes called shapeshifters, shifters, hidden people, or Elves, the Lethe are mysterious beings which are feared by all humans in Osera. They only inhabit deep woods and forests, and are known to kill intruders, especially those with ill intent.

Though rare, they have been observed to steal young children and replace them with one of their own, having taken the child's face and identity. Why this is done is unknown, but has resulted in retaliatory attacks into Lethe groves.

The Lethe are rumoured to be the cause of the Mist and for breeding Horrors, though this is contested by the scholars of the Seventh Sanctum who suggest the two are separate phenomena.
